The development by the Adobe Systems Inc. of the PDF (Portable Document Format) file format started a breakthrough in the electronic publications. Based on the PostScript files with the outprint of the publication, the PDF file contains all formatting, including pagination, pictures and fonts used in publication. This files can be read using the free software, Adobe Acrobat Reader, available for all major operational systems (Windows, Unix, MAC OS). They provide the same picture of the publication independently from the software actually installed on the user computer. The other important advantage is a relatively small file volume, caused by the compression used, resulting in short download times in the Internet.
If you don't have your copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader yet, you can download it from Adobe Systems Inc. Web site.
